Cannes Lions 2016: the Croisette's top moments on Twitter
June 27 2016That’s it for Cannes Lions 2016. It was a busy week on Twitter for the Croisette, and we used Visibrain to take a look at which agencies, brands and adlanders were driving conversations on Twitter at this year’s event.
There have been 214,113 tweets sent about Cannes Lions between Saturday June 18th and Friday June 24th. That’s a slight drop on last year - 293,393 tweets were sent during Cannes Lions 2015.
The top tweet of the week was sent actress Lana Parrilla:

The agencies that were causing a stir on Twitter for #CannesLions
A huge number of agencies compete at Cannes Lions, but some of them were getting more attention on Twitter than others, and not always for the right reasons. Here are some of the agencies that were hot topics:
Ogilvy and Mather: 17,305 mentions.
Ogilvy and Mather have done it again. The agency is always extremely active on Twitter during Cannes, and this year was no exception. The #ogilvycannes hashtag alone was used 15,623 times.

Their inspirational tweets, combined with a number of Lions wins, got them more mentions than any other agency at la Croisette.
Vayner Media: 848 mentions.
Vayner Media were getting a lot of attention on Twitter for all the wrong reasons: a party invite for “attractive females only” got them into hot water:
It's 2016, @vaynermedia @thrillist. This is not how you party at @cannes_lions. #canneslions #changetheratio pic.twitter.com/jF50tdPe0p

However, the situation was handled pretty well, and it looks like despite some bad press, the agency’s reputation escaped relatively unscathed.
@SimonJHarris @cindygallop @VaynerMedia @Thrillist @Cannes_Lions I'm stunned and angry - finding out details now

Grey Group: 790 mentions.

A disappointing turn for Grey Singapore, who insisted that the app was simply still being tested.
