September 21 2015As one of the biggest events of the fashion industry, New York Fashion Week always causes quite a stir, and last week’s edition was no exception. Twitter was flooded with photos and comments as fashion brands, A-list celebrities, journalists and bloggers tweeted their favorite new styles hitting the catwalks.
We used the Visibrain Twitter monitoring platform to sort through the 983,579 tweets sent during #NYFW to identify the top influencers of one of the world’s most prestigious fashion events.
The screen shot below shows that the 983,579 tweets sent during New York Fashion Week were sent by 358,864 unique users. We can also see that only 32% of tweets were originals, so who was getting all the retweets?
Lady Gaga and Fifth Harmony stole the show
Many of New York Fashion Week’s most retweeted posts were sent by celebrities, not brands or designers.
If we start by looking at the most retweeted tweets, we can see that the top three were all sent by singers: Normani Kordei @NormaniKordei from Fifth Harmony, pop icon Lady Gaga @ladygaga, and AllyBrooke Hernandez @AllyBrooke, also from Fifth Harmony.
Let’s take a closer look at New York Fashion week’s most popular post. @NormaniKordei sent her tweet at 4.57 pm on September 15th:

In just over three hours, her 4.57 pm tweet had been shared 3512 times.
Other celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Kylie Jenner also appear in the top most-retweeted posts, all using the new #NYFW emoji of course:

Brands of NYFW: Givenchy comes out on top
In the end, New York Fashion Week is all about the designers. So which brands impressed the Twitterati the most?
